I did watch the video, and I have the feeling that she isn't panicking as much as we do, or is it because she is not a Dobermann owner, or are we overreacting??

So now the test is available, I guess if you don't test you will have to be a very rich breeder cause every puppybuyer, who purchases a affected puppy from you will take you to court. And what if you do test and your dog is a heterozygoot for DCM. Dr Meurs says, to be carefull to exclude dogs for the breeding population will be to small. So I test all the born pups, but I can only do that if they are registered, thak will take at least 3 weeks. Then I have to send in the test. Before I get the results it will take another 3 weeks. So the pups are 6 weeks old now. What should I do with the affected pups?? Kill them at six weeks old?? What if they are all affected and I have a litter of 10. Or should I sell them. What do I tell the new puppybuyer. The pup you just bought could be having a serious heart condition when she/he gets 6 or 7 years old, or maybe not. I. am not sure if I want to breed anymore.

after 1990, many breeders have forgotten that breeding is done with the head, not heart.
generally they are lovers, not breeders

That is to easy said. Before 1990 there was also DCM.

-I did not say that there is no DCM. I said that the 1990 race appeared loving mercy of those who kill a fly sick. 14 poppy and those who fought the FCI for all poppy npotriva have pedigree (past six poppy admitted FCI) in tecut cresctorul selected from the 14 poppy than 6 living. others were killed. ....... I hope you will not be upset that I used the word killed. This was true in the past. Now can you understand why so many are today dobemanni with DCM.

I do understand what you mean, money is involved. We do not any longer let nature solve itself. I think it is because all the tools we have today and the possibilities to intervene. But the weaker pups are not always the badest pups. Some bitches are to far away from nature to be good mothers and select themselves. But a puppy that is not good will not survive, and should not survive. I have no problem to let go of puppy early after birth, but I do have a problem to do it after 6 weeks knowing that the puppy might never be sick of DCM in its life.

Too late for pups on the ground, but it'd be nice if those who were planning on breeding and care about this issue would just wait until test results are in before continuing on with breeding plans. Waiting an extra heat cycle isn't going to be the end of the world.
