I am looking for the DV Hips instructions for my vet to do Icy's Hips. I have lots of questions so Hope someone can answer my Q's.
1. Do I have to put the registration number on the X Rays? like OFA?
2. Does DV do Hips and Elbows too? I had planned on doing both too.
3. For people who have one DV hips and registered the litter and MOM and or DAD with AKC? How does that all work out? Does AKC recognize DV ratings?
4. Microchip? I have a Hungarian Chip and a American Avid chip.I am confused on what to do
and anything else you guys might think I will need.

If I'm wrong I hope Harald will correct me ... - X-Rays must be large and incl. the dogs knees - X-Rays must contain indification of the exact dog - reg.no. - identification (tatoo or chip) and name - Whether they also do the Elbows or not, I'm not quite sure, but I think they do - As there are no requirements in regard to having your dog HD'ed in the USA/AKC, and from what I have heard from others, I believe that AKC recognize the DV results - ID must follow the pedigree, as copies of the pedigree must follow the X-Rays for evaluation Bitten

In included the elbows and they rated them in the notes section of the paperwork near the bottom. It took quite a long time to get them back -- but I also noticed that it looked like they had sat at the office for almost 6 weeks after they had been signed! So -- be patient!

Notes for X-raying Veterinarian (translated from reverse side of German form) 1. Please mark the following information directly on the X-ray, so that it cannot be altered: - tattoo number (or microchip - use European chip since your dog has one) - full name of dog - date of x-ray - registration number of dog - name of owner 2. Please ensure that the x-ray meets the following requirements: - symmetrical positioning - the rear legs must be parallel to each other and the table top - Pull strongly! The kneecaps must project between the femurs. - Mark the X-ray to indicate right (R) or left (L) side 3. Repeat X-rays may only be done with written permission of the head breed warden. Copy 5 – Pink copy is for the veterinarian file. Send all other copies (each must be stamped by the veterinarian – to Norbert Daube. For DV hips forms contact: www.dobermann.deIt is my understanding that the elbows have a separate form, but you can email the Dv and ask that.

Also, be sure to send 'real' x-rays and not digital ones.
Hope this helps.

thanks so much guys for answering my questions. Yes I can Do the American OFA or PennHip But I will most likely be breeding to a male out of country or a Euro lined male anyways. So DV will do for me now. Do I need to send my Email to the DV in Deutch/German? Thanks Vadim for Suggesting me to post! and thanks for all the responses. Anne - Are the Knee XRAYS taken in the same position as OFA or do I have to Email the DV to Get translated directions too?

Do I need to send my Email to the DV in Deutch/German? Anne - Are the Knee XRAYS taken in the same position as OFA or do I have to Email the DV to Get translated directions too? You can send it in English unless it is too complicated. I already copied the translated version of the back of the hip form (see above). The DV won't have that for you. As far as I know OFA does not care whether or not the knees are on the x-ray. It is mandatory for the DV.

Today was a holiday and they may be closed until Monday. Generally a few days because they are only open a few hours a week.

Does anybody know if the DV will accept digital x-rays (ie. disk) if sent directly from the veterinarian? OFA does.....

I know the DV accepts digital x-rays from Germany because here they are always sent by the vet and not the owner. That would be another question to ask via email. I have asked that question before for Lianne, and they said categorically 'no'. Not sure what to make of that...

About the elbows -- my vet just took the shots as I didn't have specifics from the DV. So they must have been *like OFA* -- It sounds like there maybe a separate form for elbows -- please ask the DV about this and see what they say. Also, the forms are a carbon triplicate (quad-replicate?!) so you have to mail that -- I wondered why the DV didn't have an online form to be able to send everything electronically. Maybe they do . . . . ??
It will be great to hear what you find out --

Hey guys. Yes I am still waiting for a response. I sent one through the contact form on the DV page and to the email listed on the DV to contact. Hope they actually got it and im not waiting for something that will never come. Which I have before.

So I have sent 3 emails and nothing back. I hate to be impatient but does it usually take this long to get a response back?
