For those of you that still crop (or have in the past), what method of posting the ears do you use and why?
At what age and with what length of cut do you normally have fully standing ears?

I still crop De De I get a pet crop. Not short and not long. My vet does agreat job and has some figures worked out how to tell where to cut. I still use the old tampon method of taping, I know some use the foam tubing but I find it bends to easy and you may get a crease in the ear you cant see untill the tapes come off. I usually have to tape untill they are 6 months

I would like to see my Pups cropped as early as the Vet will take them 6 to 8 weeks is ideal for me this allows the pups ears to heal b4 they are coordinated enough to scratch at the raw tissue. Success rate is very high. We also opt for the Lazar technique witch i consider to be much cleaner and healing time is usually cut in half.
Now as far as length, that is determined primarily by myself and the vet depending on the puppy in question. but never shorter then a medium show crop.
While the ears are still raw i would opt for the European style rack and usually will keep this method ongoing until the puppy is old enough to remove it on his/her own. then its on to the backer rod and tape method. I will continue to post up to six months minimum regardless of weather the ears are standing before or not.
