Hello from South West Ontario,
I have been in the sport of Schutzhund..ummm, IPO since around 1995. My first dog was an American Pit Bull Terrier who I rescued and put a SchH 3 on, since then I have put BHs on a couple more “Pits” as well as a Bullmastiff, and SchH 3s on GSD and Malinois.
Up until a little over a year ago, I was training in the more “traditional” way of Schutzhund and was getting ok results, but I wasn’t happy with my training style, and was actually considering taking a break from the sport, as I was feeling burnt out. Then 2 important events happened, first was I met Elmar Mannes of Germany who completely blew my mind with his protection work. Next was meeting Lance Collins and he blew my mind in everything else…. as well as protection!.
I have since completely re-trained my dogs in the WCGSSC/Lance’s way of training and couldn’t be happier!! His system is the best that I have ever seen in my 15 or so years..If you get a chance to see him, I highly suggest you take the time out to. I can honestly say I have never seen any club where each and every member has such great obedience/control on their dogs and it is nearly impossible to tell new person from World Competitor.
I am currently training a GSD, a Malinois and an American Bulldog. Perhaps one day I will try a Doberman as I am a huge fan ;D
Well, that’s my novelette..look forward to learning lots during my stay here.

Welcome to the board. I remember you telling me when you came to the club last year that you lurked on the forum so it is good to see you contribute. We may influence you into getting a Dobermann yet! or not

Thanks Steve. No Doberman right now. I did have a female a few years ago, but I placed her with a friend who does Agility, the dog was more suited to that sport. I admit I do miss having a Dobe underfoot. One of my favorite working breeds. Love their looks, speed and athleticism and a good one can put a GSD to shame!!

I missed this one Lynn.
I know you to see you:)) And we are FB friends LOL..
Its hard to hide when you are only one of a small percentage of Doberman people I see at trials. I am anti-social/shy at trails, but I will come up to say hi and meet Teka at the next trial;)
Hoping to be ready to trial in May..but time will tell..see you soon.
