Hi Every one Tamara Champagne and I have a great opportunity in Feb. We are going to live and train with Joanne Flemming Plumb for two weeks. While we were there we thought we would do an interview with her and post it here. So we would love to have your questions and will will ask them in our interview with her while we spend the evenings chatting about dogs and training do doubt. We hope you contribute although I don't believe Joanne has ever trialled a doberman her self but I could be wrong. I believe she has been on the world DVG team with 4 different breeds? Joanne turned my tracking around in one day of training with her so I'm over the top to be spending two solid weeks of living and training with her. We would love to have your questions. Lianne and Tamara

Which trainers are her biggest influence? What qualities does she look for when choosing pup? What is her method for teaching focus? Ball, food, tug? location? Does her overall method change from breed to breed? If so, how? What is her opinion on why we see so few Dobermanns at the higher levels of competition? Why did she choose to focus on mals?
Sorry I could not come up with more. Maybe some more folks will chip in with more questions?

Is she planning on becoming a judge? How does she feel judging is now in comparison to when she started? Does she see a difference in dogs now (temperment, agility, workability, hardness) as compared to 10 years ago? 20 years ago? Has she noticed a change in dogs (temperment, agility, workability, hardness) at high levels as compared to 10 or 20 years ago. Is her method still evolving or is it still equal to years past? Are there dogs her methods simply do not work for? What is some advice she would give to people new to the sport? What does she recommend for people who train in isolation?

What age does she start training a puppy for bitework/protection? HOW does she introduce training to a new puppy? What is the easiest way to train a dog.....tug, ball, food? How does she introduce tracking to the puppy? What age does she start tracking?
Coming from a NEWBIE, i kinda thought those would be some interesting (easy) questions for her. I will add more as I think of them.

I have watched her DVD's on tracking and I am very impressed. My questions are: Does she track in snow? If so, is there a temperature that is too cold for the nose? If so, is she concerned that the dog may become too visual? And if so, does she bait every footstep as she would in dirt?
Thanks!

I have heard that Joanne does a variety of "crate" games with her dogs and especially puppies. I would love to hear those explained in detail. Thanks. V
