Well we had a fabulous fundraiser this weekend! We hosted a CGN (Canine Good Neighbour) Test along with an obedience and rally fun match. We also had a silent auction.
The day turned out beautiful!!! We were apprehensive as the forcast had called for rain earlier this week, but the weather turned out great.
22 dogs for the CGN with several dobies, and a great amount of people for the fun matches (rally and ob). We had an awesome silent auction as well with some very generous donations from a high end hair salon (3 $100 gift certs!! thank you Abby!) and superstore (2 $50 gift certs thank you Caraly!), montana silversmith jewelry, a dog bed, a rottweiller collectable plate and 2 packages with multiple items in them.
Thank you so much to everyone that came out and participated but also to all the volunteers!! To run a CGN it takes about 5-6 volunteers along with the judge and a non reactive dog. Our rally and ob matches both needed volunteers to move jump heights/put out articles, act as posts and ring steward. It is only thru the gracious volunteers that such events are able to be run and River City Ring would like to thank all the volunteers!!!
The venue was the Belvedere Community Center outdoor rink, and wow it was an awesome facility!! We housed 3 large obedience/rally rings in the rink itself with ample room for people to mill about outside, as well as a great area for the CGN outside the rink.
I also thought it was fantastic that there were alot of mom's out for mother's day. Lots of the entrants invited their mom's/families to come with them!
My entire club worked hard and gave great effort to be able to host this event, but most specifically Tamara Champagne. She is an organizing diva! I am good with ideas, and overall planning, but she is the one that really brings it all together and makes it happen and is fantastic with the small details that I often gloss over and forget about!! Those small details are what makes an event run smoothly, and without that attention to detail the event would have fallen apart.
River City Ring is a very small club that trains in a very small sport. It is only thru events such as this that we can afford to make french ring and mondio ring seminars/events/trials available to the Edmonton and Northern Alberta people possible. Because of this fundraising event we are able to afford to host a trial this fall. So thank you to all the participants for helping us to make this happen!
