There has been a lot of discussion here about the various characters of the dogs but, what about the handler? I, for one, do NOT have the upper body strength to give an effective correction on a fur saver. Heck, my dogs can even see a prong correction coming from a mile away. LOL I have to lean into the dog to give the correction. Messes up the timing in a big way.
My point being that I use what works for ME and my dog. It ALL must go away eventually, the food, the toy, the prong or the E Collar.
I I lived in a country where prongs and E collars were not allowed I would still have Dobermanns and I would still train them. I would just have to have a different type of dog or I would need help in the 'teaching' phases of whatever sport I chose to do.
