So we didn't pass but I am super proud of him. He ended up biting in the obedience portion but kicked ass in protection. We have some things to fine tune and we will be trying again in July.

Felt the need to reply on behalf of the dog hahahaha!!! I know nothing about the format or training specifics that your working in however as a life long Personal Protection trainer when I have a smart dog who is capable of sencing emotions and energy levels we train those elements into PP and the dog is taught to discriminate. It looks to me that the helper was extremely high energy and seemed to me to be projecting a threat to the point of goating.
Now ofcourse that may well be his job for this trial I don't know but a "smart" dog doesn't have to be trained to pick up this type of offensive motion some still have natural instincts hahahaha!! Bravo to your boy he may have failed in his training for the moment but his reaction was an honest one and a "natural" one for a Dobermann. Von
