I'm all for civil work too BUT I'd like to see a much better technique on the part of the handler. Doesn't look real solid :-(

I have to second Dobermanmans comments here! The handler is way off balanced because her feet are parallel, her hands are to high and to close together also. The dog is far off balanced because of the high hands and is ready to flip or roll sideways. Sorry to sound mean but mistakes in safety can hold back progrees and lead to injuries to both the dog and people. I've noticed very few double leads in photos now a days I think thats irresponsible, equipment can fail and safety for everyone should be paramount. The dog looks very animated and willing with better techniques employed she will flurish with her training. Again I don't want to sound harsh I don't know the folks involved here but corrections for people training are as important as canaine direction, again sorry I'm not trying to be rude at all. Von

In my mind it is pretty difficult to look at a single still shot and make a complete determination from it. The conclusions that have been drawn may be correct then again they could be somewhat off base....
First of all in terms of hand position the dog appears to me to be making leaping prey drive movements (its right foot is off the ground). Then again I could be wrong (hard to tell from a still shot). With the leash attached to the harness it would seem it would be very difficult for a small person to do anything but allow the hands to come high in this scenario.
It also looks the handler may have her butt against the wall. If this is the case there may be more stability than what she may be given credit for in her handling. The advantage to going against the fence in this type of situation is the dog cannot go behind the handler which is an option that dogs who are attempted to be worked in defense could choose. If the dog is leaping I could see the training moving to defense to bring balance into the mix. A dog leaping into the air in prey is undesirable, though may look cool to the novice spectator.
As far as 2 lines, I don't know where the dog is in its development. A dog who actually has obedience in protection is not so much of a safety issue.

omg WHO CARES! what is this, dobermantalk? why are we analyzing this picture to death? she's obviously leaning against the shed and the dog is lunging, causing her hands to be pulled up. wow.

I care, so if you don't butt out!!! I post what I please and what interests me, why does it have to pass your a@@ for approval??? My comments were about mistakes that I saw in a photo that could help a young handler, if you don't think its relative thats your opinion. If I want to ask rosamberg a question thats my right to. As for dt your attitude is just what theirs is, its their way or the highway, do I need to clear my posts by you?? Von

I think Tori knows what she is doing. It's not a big deal, whatever! It's my understanding that she trains with Butch Henderson's club. They must not know how to train dobermanns right??
I'm interested in seeing more pictures of people training their dobe.

von, you and i usually don't butt heads- but this is just ridiculous.
tori isnt a young handler- she's had dobes for years, so I don't think she needs your help. have you titled any dobermans in schutzhund? i don't think so- and neither have I, so what's the point in critiquing how she is standing/holding her dog? it's a still shot- it's not like it's a video.
yeah, you're right it's my opinion- and I'm entitled to it! and can say what I want! and if you're going to be COMPLETELY rude, then maybe we should review your posts beforehand.

Titled dogs? I was training PP private dogs, State Police and Private Security long before you were born!!! I was merely pointing out her balance and posture was poor. Her hands were not correct and feet were even. It seems young people like yourself have no reason to learn from someone with my experience and thats ok. Your pretty much a know it all kid even when I'd defend you on dt from the jerks there I'd wonder why just because you'd open your mouth just as you have here & now. I'm tired of holding off in case some kid gets offended especially when their the ones being rude. I guess you know it all now but maybe the girl in the pic can't see her poor positioning. To bad you couldn't lend her a hand!!! Oh thats right you didn't even see it, and to think someone with your experience. Takes more than Titles on a field in a sport to gain knowledge and experience but you know it all already. Von

Personal conversations are for PM if you choose to argue among yourselves. Please, keep it to the subject at hand. The conversation about the training aspect is greatly appreciated. Otherwise, the thread will be locked. Have a care for the person and dog in the picture please! BTW, GREAT job and keep on training!

I JUST said I haven't titled my dog. so what? that means I can't have an opinion? at least i have videos of my training and dog, and what do you have?
No one knows your dogs or ANYTHING you have done- ever. even when asked, you show proof of NOTHING. so no wonder why people are skeptical to take your advice or listen to you, esp. when you get so defensive over another opinion.
anddddd i don't remember anything on DT of you "defending" me, since I never needed your defending. I still am on DT and enjoy it (just not some members). you got banned because, just like here, you can't take a different opinion and act like an jerk when people call you out on it.

I'll leave you with this your no different then the dt'ers you have a big mouth on the net but inperson I'm sure your just a lil kid in heart n' soul. Your the one who came on this thread and started this BS no one was calling anyone names and being an asshole until you started being one. If the shoe fits wear it if its slightly large you need it up your butt. The people who have met me from the different forums know I'm genuine and anyone who has a conversation with me about agitation work can tell I know my work. You can't because you know squat, your just another big mouth who will never know what I forgot about training. The biggest problem you have is your not WILLING to learn you think you know it all. Have a good life and do your damnest not to ruin any dogs. Von
