well I put everything on.... I did a partial shave as his coat is quite thick, not to the skin but definately thinner. I have a machine with 7 contacts so I pretty much just shaved a strip from the bottom of his shoulder to the top of his elbow. I used the waterless shampoo, then used half a bottle of isopropl alcohol to clean the area.... Then I put some bandaid like tape on either side of the electrodes, then I wrapped him with vet wrap... then I put on the vest. My doG if anything moves, I would be suprised!!! lol... I can hear the tape running, so I hope all is good. We shall see tomorro for sure!
Man I was soooo nervous about hooking this up! And very nervous to see the results.
For those of you that holter... do you pay the extra money to have a cardiologist look at it?? I think it is $90 instead of $30 for the read fee. For those in Canada that holter, how long does it take to get the results back???
Dayum I hope this goes well and 0 Vpc's!!!
ok, it has been half an hour since I put it on....
I am really holding myself back from taking everything off and checking the electrodes... I keep putting my ear to the machine to see if it is working. This is nerve wracking!!!! GAH!

for the love of god.... I just rechecked it, unitentionally. I noticed the vest was sitting kinda cockeyed.. and when I went to readjust it, I noticed that 2 of the electrodes on the left (top and bottom)and one on the right had (bottom) had disconnected from the sticky things. I have no idea if they disconnected last night or this morning.. DAMN!
so I guess we will be trying the holter thing again next weekend.
Man those sticky things are sticky!! It took me 45 mins with the disposable wipe thingys(for taking off medical tape) to get both sides off. However I found out after that the blue oil they use to remove wax works just as good.

Well we got it done this weekend, now just waiting for the results. I taped the crap outta that dog but it held on. I initially used vet wrap around the vest and the monitor, but after the vet wrap kept moving I taped the sucker on, and it stayed exactly in place, so well that I worked him a couple of hours before the end, with no issues. I also wanted to point out that you need to download a form off the Alba site: www.albamedical.com/images/Holter_Form_Blank.pdfI had no issues with the sticky electrode things coming off, in fact it took me the better part of 45 mins to get all 7 off with the wipes. I taped over the electrode heads this time and none came off (I tape all around his body tho rather than just in strips). I found the vest to be pretty useless, because I had to tape over the vest and the monitor anyways to keep it stable. Now to just wait for the results! Next time will be a breeze! After that onto the echo..... Tamara McIntosh
