While I am a New Englander born and bred, I hate the winter and generally hibernate. But, I am trying to convince myself to continue tracking. Does anyone here have experience with tracking in the snow? Do you do anything different than you would without snow? I am specifically wondering about foot print tracking for IPO/SchH. Thanks for the input! Alissa

Alissa,
Two things to be concerned about, too much snow tracking will tend to get a dog that sight tracks instead of using his nose. Second if it's too cold deeply inhaling can hurt the inner nose. You can track in the winter just don't do too much snow tracking

Thomas, Thanks for the feed back. That's what I was wondering. Seems like something that might be OK occassionally for my older female who I'm training towards an FH, but not such a good idea for my puppy who is just learning. And trust me, I'm a wimp about being out in the cold, especially when the wind gets whipping on those tracking fields, so it would not be frequent. Thanks for the input! Alissa
