So, I think I just got turned down for a working spot for a seminar I REALLY wanted to attend because I have a Doberman. They are being quite strict about the seminar being advanced and are only allowing in certain skill levels which I can understand. I asked what the criteria was for the dogs and was told "a dog with 100% drive and focus but sloppy around the edges. Must have a good foundation with less finesse on the upper end". Since my boy perfectly meets this criteria I told her he would be the dog I'm bringing (rather than my mal) and she replied "Really? A doberman with 100% drive? Not something we see often! We are looking for the kind of drive that the dog gallops in on a recall with ears pinned back. Or skids and turns picking up a DB. Does your Dobe do that?" To say I was offended was an understatement. Looks like I am auditing the GSD and Mal show cause this woman doesn't believe my dog had what it takes to participate in an advanced OB seminar. Nice. Sorry, that's my rant for the day!! Guess next year I'll just have to go to her club trial and clean her GSD clock with my Doberman

OK- so give it up--what seminar would deny someone with a high drive dobe (and that was willing to pay the price)? I would think that this topic should go under "clubs/seminars" that are dobermann friendly. Just my op. ;D

Just my op. ;D Seeing as the club definately ISN'T dobie friendly... not sure why it would go in that section. Tamara McIntosh
