what you will do with your Dobermann DCM who are bearing genetic?
<--
My answers:
- first of all, I do not know which of my Dobermann's carry the genetic for the new DNA test, as I haven't recived the results yet - If either or any of the test results will show positive Het or Homo, it's my clear intentions not to breed any of those - regardless what Kate Meurs have stated in her presentation - the results that may come up as negative, I will continue to breed on - BUT as Kate Meurs state, even the negative dogs, might in the future develope DCM, and due to, that at this point within the research, merely one gene has been varified, and as Kate Meurs state, there might be more than this one gene, which cause the development of DCM, I need to make aware, that all offspring in the future must be tested accordingly and regardless that both parents might be tested negative -

Bitten,
What is your reasoning for this as Dr. Meurs has stated that removing that many dogs from the gene pool might create additional problems in the breed?
Thanks,
Nellie

Nellie, this is merely our personal choice, as it will be difficult to get the male owners to test their dogs, hence wish to be on the safe side with our own dogs. Then there's the Danish Kennel Club, their ethical recommandations, their requests and requirements - I will not go into details about all this, as that will take very long time to explain.
