Okay, I admit it, we do not routinely treat our dogs with a flea prevention unless we are having a flea problem. We do have the occasional dog that will get tapes because of this. However, we seldom have an outbreak of the little buggers. I just don't like putting that stuff on my dogs every month in addition to the monthly heartworm preventative that we do. Several years ago we did do the flea stuff monthly during the hot months when the fleas seem to be most active here in central Florida. I was extremely fortunate to find an inexpensive treatment for tape worms that has enabled us to not to have to dose our guys all year long. Valbazen is great stuff for this. It runs around $35 for a 500 ML bottle. We give 1 cc per 10 pounds of body weight 2 days in a row for tapes. We also use this for our puppies. See the following web site for instructions: www.kdsblackmouthcurs.com/puppy_healthAlso note at the bottom of that web page an inexpensive formula for monthly flea prevention if you need to do that in your area. Just wanted to share our experiences. Nellie
