Hello all, my name is Vidya and am a dog lover from India. In the recent past I have owned an indigenous guardian breed called the Bhotia mastiff and lost hime to liver failure the past Octover. He was 13. Post which I started researching breeds and was contemplating the ADRK Rott, the Czech GSD and the working doberman. From the perspective of India's humid climate, I strongly felt the doberman would be a good choice. However the quality of the doberman has declined and it is very diificult to find a very good quality working dobe with longevity in this day and age in India. I am hoping that well experienced working dobe lovers would point me in the right direction in order to get a solid working quality dobe. In the recent past I have volunteered at the ARL Pittsburgh where I learnt quite a bit of animal behaviour and applied some of my knowledge to help get dogs adopted lest they be euthanized. Looking forward to learning a lot from everyone here! Best wishes, Vid

Vid, Welcome to the world of the working dobermann from FL, USA! We have many very knowledgable members here that I am sure would be more than happy to help you find the right pup. Thank you for the work you do there with the rescues too.

Hi All,
thank you for the welcome! I am pleased to be here also.
I will start right away by posting a question though I am unsure if this is the place to post this:
India does not have dedicated clubs for schutzhund. If I wish to train my pup in Schutzhund, is it possible at all? ( I am fascinated by bitework-Personal protection- the prime functionality of the dobe)
Which books, or DVD's would you recommend that I could purchase off Amazon which are exclusively for working dobermans, if any?
Thanks in advance.

Meanwhile, wish you the very best with Kaz. Saw some videos of him working.
