yay!!!! Holly Holly can you tell us the differnce you find between owning a dobe a mal??? And what you prefer and why? I have two breeds as well dobes and rotts and got into the rotts as I needed a more out door breed for my acerage at the time. I also got into them because of price point and no taping and tended to be healthier dogs even though they have health issues as well. I dont believe as great as the dobe. but all said and done I still love my dobes as the dog to live with they are clowns one minute exposive serious the next. Quicker faster and easier to work than the rotts I find im getting tired of having to crank up a rott and in the heat well forget it. again my opinion would love to hear the differences in mals and dobes what your opinions are? and any one else that has owned and worked two breeds would love to hear the differences!!!! Probably should be it's own topic - hmmm, been trying to figure that out ever since you asked, but each dobe and mal has been so different from each other it's hard to generalize. I'd say the mals have been easier to keep focused in obedience and up in drive for obedience. Speed and agility wise good female dobes and mals arent that different. I've never owned a male dobe because I hate the dopey, goofy, run they do... Protection - well a good dog is a good dog, just alot harder to find a good dobe for protection if you want to do FR or MR and not schutzhund. But a good dobe bites and trains similar to a good mal. In the house the only generalizations I can make are that they are remarkably similarly sweet and cuddly Alot of how they live in the house depends on the individual and how you raise them.

interesting thanx Holly nice to know peoples thoughts on dobes and different breeds. I agree that am partial to the dobe bitches as well. Yet have owned 2 fantastic male rotts could not ask for more. Should be interesting as I have my first male working dobe coming in 3 weeks. It will be fun to compare the two sexes having one of each now. Lianne
