Am totally in awe of all the achievements I am reading on here. I have a more humble background,my husband had Dobes 21yrs ago when I met him,did some fun obedience, but really pets.As children came got smaller mongrels,as children grew now got a 3yr old male Dobe,Boysie, started pet obedience -ruined his drives(now I know what a drive is) started schutzhund-became hooked-got a GSD 7mths bitch Minnie. But love Dobies and when I have practiced on Minnie I will get another Dobe and get proper training right from the start! Horses were my main love and have been rather more sucsessful with them.I am keen to learn all I can but am a real novice so please be gentle. Best Wishes Lynn

Welcome, Lynn! Be careful with that SchH! Once you're hooked, I don't think there's any antidote available...LOL Good luck with your GSD and your quest for a Real Dog!

Hi thanks for your replies,it is really hard in England as Dobes are definitely not for most of the schutzhund world its GSDs or Mallis. I find training the GSD easier but not sure if that is because I know more now or they are just easier.I would love to pick everyones brains but forums in England can be quite difficult if you havent titled a few dogs and preferably served in the Police or armed forces, so I am a little wary.It is a very closed shop and not overly welcoming to newcomers, how does that compare to the USA? Hope I will meet you Kareem ,I train at k9 Ulfs luckily a very friendly and helpful club. We have a trial at Easter if you are interested you would be very welcome. I am looking forward to gleaning as much info as I can. Best Wishes Lynn
