just curious on which is better in people's eyes. Any pluses or minuses on either?

We have and are using both ... Echo is the cheapest, and usable in connection with normal health check up. Should an Echo give indication / reason for additional examination - Holter and/or Ultrasound is the way to go.

They are used in tandem as they check for different things.
The holsters check for heart electrical rhythms - if the heart if double beating or such.
The echos check for an enlarged heart and the size of the ventricles.
Both issues can kill dobes and both need to be checked for. They go hand in hand. A dobe can have on or a combo of both issues.
