This is a response to multiple e-mails I have received. Yes my bitch broke her K9 at and below the gum line at the DVG nationals. NO she was not jammed. I believe she broke it on the escape as myself and multiple people heard it. She was bleeding a good bit as we heeled down for the long bite. Sometimes these things just happen. The helper work was excellent and safe on both the front and back half. (she finished the routine with a 90).
I was disappointed when I asked at 9pm Sat evening what I needed to do to pull from tracking and was told by the trial chairman that I still needed to go get a vet to say she could not track or the tracking judge to say she was unfit to be there. There was absolutely no tooth left above the gumline. We tried to track and got a 32. The alternative was finding an emergency vet and paying for something I knew or having unsportsman like conduct put in my book. This was the first time in 4 DVG nationals she did not pass all phases.
I do not often post so most Dobermann people are not very familiar with my bitch. I had planned to compete this winter in a club trial and regionals but she will probably be retired now. Unknown to most she was missing 8 teeth in the last club trial (she was high VPG3 with a 283, 98) and at nationals before she broke the 9th there and was on massive antibiotics. She slowed down quite a bit the last 2 years from injuries but was still very respectable as the video of the trial showed. I probably had 25% of the spectators come to me and comment on her protection routine and how she finished with her injury.
This is what she has done, at 2 years she did her VPG1 Saturday night (275) and VPG2 Sunday morning (267) without teaching the stand. She entered her first DVG championship at 2 and competed in 5 regionals and 4 nationals. She is 11 times VPG 3 with multiple 280 and 290 scores, receiving a 100 track. I had a lot of fun with her, where she competed well with all breeds - loved taking high OB,Tracking, Prot, high 3 and high trial in a large trial with all GSD and Malanois. She had a couple less than great trials but not many. She has undergone multiple surgeries on the tooth and a small ridgeline fracture but after 5 weeks is almost healed! She will continue to be a very special dog to me.
