Ok, I have a few questions as to scorebooks.
I have to join a club (our training club is a USA affiliated club) and have been holding off joining until I sort out what Doberman clubs have a scorebook that would be allowed in a USA trial.
Our club has a spring and a fall trail next year that if all goes well I would like to compete in at least one of them.
Can someone (or several people) give me a suggestion as to which route to take club-wise?

UScA wouldn't issue a score book listing your dog as a Dobermann. UDC will as will DVG, USMRA or NARA these three need to be stamped by UScA ($40 non member or $10 member. I'm pretty sure the UDC is running a half price membership drive ($25 instead of $50) I'd join your training clubs parent club (UScA) and join the UDC breed club. The $30 you save ($10 member vs $40 nonmember0 will pay for the UDC membership this year and your score book will list your dog as a Dobermann

Thank you Thomas, someone partially explained this to me todayand offered to sponser me in UDC (said I have to have a sponser to join)- but your explaination is clearer than hers was. She is nice but confusing I had planned on joining UScA after joining a Dobermann club, but it is confusing trying to sort out who affilaties with who (UScA's website is not helpful for this either) Will the UDC scorebook need to be stamped by UScA as well (you only listed the last 3 for that), and if so- how would that be done? By a trial secy, a judge, or do I send it in or is it pre stamped before I get it?

HI Courtney,
Join UDC first and get the AWDF score book issued by the UDC. Then join UScA before you send them the score book to validate. Otherwise it costs $40 vs $10 UScA member cost) There should be an address on the UScA website under score book. UScA DVG, UDC, USMRA NARA and several other breed clubs are all AWDF (American Working Dog Federation) member clubs and recognize each others score books AFAIK UScA is the only one that charges to "certify" other AWDF member Score Books. I guess they need the money? :-)

You do not have to join UDC or any club,to get a UDC scorebook, you just have to register your dog with the UDC, to get a the scorebook

Thomas- Thank you for all your help. I sent out the membership form for UDC on Weds, so things are started on memberships/scorebooks.
Meeeach- I didn't know that, however from years of rabbit showing I learned that it was better to join your nation and local clubs so that a) you were "in the loop" with info and member rights, and b) they need the membership numbers and funds to continue running and holding events.
