Well, we did it. After a neck injury that has put us out of training 3 different times, culminating with a bulged disc in his neck this past December, I wasn't sure we would ever see a mondio field again (doctors said no way). But we tried physical therapy instead, and it worked! He recovered stronger than ever and we resumed training and were able to meet our MR3 goal!
Andolf (call name "Aisin") didn't blow one exercise (rare in Mondio), and I thought we may end with a nice score. But no, judging is tougher and penalties are steeper at level 3. We also ran into a lot of "scooping" from the decoys that I didn't know existed in Mondio. So we passed, but only with a 312.5. Every time I trial I see new things we have to train for. The possibilities in Mondio exercises are endless.
Aisin was charged with the accessory attack and jammed his neck, first time I heard him yelp since therapy, but he continued to fight through the attack, got penalized for 4 seconds (12 pts) slow to bite, but he got in there and finished every protection exercise after that. He is a tough boy.
His best exercise, the Search and Escort, was his worst in this trial. So it goes. He lost 28 pts there! And we lost 20 pts on the jumps for me selecting lower heights/distances on the palisade and broad jump, because we start having issues there this summer. We lost 10 on the Object Guard for two bites that were outside the optimal 2 m zone. That was the bulk of our points. I am going to give him a rest and then try again next summer/fall. In the mean time I can get my puppy, Toska Ascomannis ("Keela") going!
Turns out my video camera was full! ARGH. But Virginia taped it with her phone so we have some videos (although not great) I will be getting together.

That is great!! Congrats!! Don't sell yourself short on the score, it's a pass, done after an injury that you thought it wasn't even possible to compete again because of!!
